چکیده
Frailty is a major health issue associated with aging. Diet affects frailty status; however, studies on the associations between low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) score, low-fat (LFD) score and in older Chinese adults are scarce. This study aimed to examine LCD LFD risk of adults. We analyzed data from 6414 participants aged ≥ 60 years China Northwest Natural Population Cohort: Ningxia Project. was measured using index (FI), calculated 28 items comprising diseases, behavioral disorders blood biochemistry classified as robust, pre-frail frail. scores were validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Multiple logistic regression models used evaluate LCD, frail or status after adjusting for confounders. Participants’ mean age 66.60 ± 4.15 years, 47.8% male. After age, sex, educational level, drinking, smoking, BMI, physical activity total energy, compared lowest quartile (Q1: reference), odds ratios (ORs) highest (Q4) 0.73 (95% confidence intervals: 0.61–0.88; p trend = 0.017) (95%CI: 0.55–0.95; 0.035), respectively. No significant observed either status. Our support that lower-carbohydrate diets lower status, particularly females, while fat not significantly Further intervention needed confirm these results.

Low-Carbohydrate Diets as Compared with Low-Fat Diets
to the editor: The studies by Samaha et al. 1 and Foster et al. 2 (May 22 issue) are intended to expand our knowledge about low-carbohydrate diets. One potential long-term concern about the low-carbohydrate diet is its relatively high protein load and the effect this has on kidneys. This issue is especially important in persons with diabetes, who are more likely than others to have an underlyin...

متن کاملLow-Fat Versus Low-Carbohydrate Weight Reduction Diets
OBJECTIVE Low-fat hypocaloric diets reduce insulin resistance and prevent type 2 diabetes in those at risk. Low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets are advocated as an alternative, but reciprocal increases in dietary fat may have detrimental effects on insulin resistance and offset the benefits of weight reduction. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We investigated a low-fat (20% fat, 60% carbohydrate) ver...
متن کاملLow-carbohydrate diets.
Americans spend dollar 33 billion annually on weight loss products and services, and a large portion of this money is spent on low-carbohydrate diets. Because of their higher protein and fat content and lower fiber and carbohydrate content, concerns have been raised about the potential health consequences of low-carbohydrate diets. Published long-term data are lacking. Short-term studies compar...
